Into the Badlands season 3: Why isn’t it at San Diego Comic-Con?

There are a couple of different things that we’re angry about when it comes to Into the Badlands, but none of them have to do with the series itself.

First and foremost, we’re frustrating over the snubs that happened at the Primetime Emmy Awards, especially when it comes to the stunt coordination category — there were other worthy nominees elsewhere, but it felt like the series was a worthy winner here from the jump. We don’t know if there’s not enough voters who appreciate Into the Badlands among voters or they just aren’t familiar with the show, but ultimately it’s maddening either way. The same goes for the San Diego Comic-Con snub that we mention in the title.

Why aren’t we getting a panel this year? It’s not the first time that the show has been snubbed, but unfortunately, it’s really out of the cast and crew’s control. These are decisions often made by either the network or the studio, and often shows aren’t brought on for either production or budgetary reasons. We think that this is more of the latter, since it can be costly to bring everyone down and do promotion all around the convention. Do we think that Into the Badlands is still worth it? Absolutely, especially when you consider that A) AMC needs to give the series a return date and B) we’re coming off of an excellent first half of the season. We know that it got some good promotion in the early part of its run following The Walking Dead, but that promotion has tricked off here and there as of late.

The main reason we bring all of this up right now is because Into the Badlands is a show that needs the promotion, and because we’re probably just extra-salty about all of the snubs at the moment. One way or another, let’s just try to figure out how to bring more attention to the cast and the show over the coming weeks.
