Talking Dead: Yvette Nicole Brown to serve as interim host
Per the network’s statement, Brown is hosting these shows as the network works “to complete [their] assessment related to Chris Hardwick, who was accused by former girlfriend Chloe Dykstra of sexual assault and mistreatment in an essay last month. Hardwick has basically retreated from the public eye ever since some of the accusations first started to come in, and there really has not been all that much of an indication since that time as to what his own personal future will be. He has also been removed from other Comic-Con panels and AMC has completely shelved all episodes of his Talking with Chris Hardwick series set to premiere a little earlier this summer.
Is Brown the perfect host? For these shows, we’re inclined to believe so given that she knows the subject matter very well and beyond that, is loved by most of the audience. we do hope that people don’t give her a hard time for taking on a responsibility that was going to be filled by someone. Why not have it be at least someone who we know is more than capable of doing the job and doing it well?
The larger question we wonder is with the future of Talking Dead as an institution in itself, largely due to the fact that the show really has lost steam the past few years and as the ratings for the main shows go down, so do the numbers for it — regardless of the host.
