NCIS: New Orleans season 5: Should there be new LaSalle love interest?
While I think that there are a number of interesting discussions and mysteries to look at entering the upcoming episodes, this is one of the most intriguing storyline for a number of different reasons — starting with where LaSalle could’ve been had things in season 4 ended up differently. Let’s say, hypothetically, that Shalita Grant doesn’t leave the show near the end of season 4. Are Percy and LaSalle now in a relationship? I do wonder if that’s possible since the show had already put a little bit of mileage into the City Mouse / Country Mouse dynamic. As a matter of fact, one of the main discussion points between the two characters as she left was what could have been if she had stuck around.
Ultimately, though, I don’t want to spend too much time thinking in terms of what could’ve happened, mostly because Percy is gone and it doesn’t feel as though there are any signs she will be coming back to the show in the future.
For LaSalle moving forward, it makes sense to want him to find love because we’re all invested in him and know that he’s a caring person who works hard and wants the best for people that he’s close to. He may struggle at times when it comes to letting the walls down and having his true feelings be known, but that’s something that many people out there in the world have issues with here and there. With the right person, he may be able to be his true self and really help someone else be the best person that they can be and in return they can help show him that it’s okay to be vulnerable with them.
The problem with a LaSalle love interest right now is simply that when you look around at the field of potential suitors among the cast, there aren’t really too many obvious choices. If the producers are going to pick someone, it’s going to have to be a new person and unless you spend a lot of time with that person, I don’t know if you are going to build the chemistry quickly enough to make something happen this season. It almost seems better suited for season 6. There is someone new set to join the cast, but I almost feel like it’s overkill to turn Percy’s replacement-of-sorts into another LaSalle ‘shipping possibility. It’d almost be better to either pair that character up with someone else or no one at all.
