Law & Order: SVU season 20: Inside the writers room
Of course, they’ve got no easy task. One of the difficulties with a show like SVU is figuring out a way to continue to deliver stories that are both compelling and different than everything that’s been done before and twenty years in, that’s very different. While many of these writers haven’t been there from the beginning — showrunner Michael Chernuchin is just entering his second full season in the post — they have to prepare with the cognizance that many fans have seen all twenty seasons and many episodes multiple times. There is still new material to look from in the real world right now, which is a double-edged sword mostly because that also means that there are many terrible things coming.
To date, there hasn’t been too much said about the story for season 20 other than that it’s obviously a big milestone season. The entire core cast from season 19 seems to be poised to return — there haven’t been any rumors about exits — and we know that there is going to be a two-hour season premiere in late September. For more on that, just be sure to head over to the link here! That move in itself is a clear move on the part of NBC to show that they are intent on delivering one of the best products possible right out of the gate and they want to get viewers hooked in the new timeslot on Thursdays. It’s somewhat of a risky move to shift over to that spot and we really hope that everyone continues to flock to it. The good news is that it’s far from the first timeslot change that SVU has encountered over the years.
