Paul Wesley reteaming with Vampire Diaries co-creator on new series
Per a report coming in via Deadline, the actor is joining forces once more with his former The Vampire Diaries boss Kevin Williamson for Tell Me a Story, a new drama that is set over at CBS All Access that is a reimagining of some of the most notable fairy tales of all time. The first season is going to look at Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and Hansel & Gretel in its own creative way. Obviously, the Once Upon a Time comparisons are going to be inevitable here, but this show feels like it’s angling for something a little bit darker — hence, why it is going to CBS All Access as opposed to the linear version of the network.
Wesley is joining a cast that includes Danielle Campbell, Billy Magnussen and Kim Catrall — Campbell also has a history with The Vampire Diaries franchise courtesy of the spin-off series The Originals. With that in mind, this should be a treat for fans of that show and The Vampire Diaries. Plus, we do still contend that Williamson is one of the best writers out there for intense, dramatic television. There is quite a bit to look forward to here no matter when the show airs … though it is probably not going to be for a while given that we are just in the casting phase still. We are curious to see if Wesley will direct episodes, since he has built that reputation more in the past.
Once there is some additional news and updates regarding this show, we will have it for you here at CarterMatt. For now, just hope that this show lives up to some of the expectations that are out there for it.
