Saturday Night Live preview: Tina Fey finale expectations
Let’s start things off with this: Cameos. There are probably going to be MANY different cameos given that this is a finale featuring a former cast member and with that, many people tend to stop by. Given the 30 Rock connection it feels almost like a guarantee that Alec Baldwin returns. There is an interesting side question here as to whether or not we’re going to see as much Baldwin in the fall, given that he has an upcoming ABC talk show that could lead to a much busier schedule. We don’t think he is leaving, but we wouldn’t be shocked if he didn’t stop by as often.
Beyond just this, we feel like for Tina there’s going to be a lot of exploration into new ideas and concepts that we may not have seen on SNL before in the past. One of the big things about her as a performer is that she thinks as a writer first often and will take big risks because of that. She’s not afraid, and she has the guts to self-analyze them in the weeks/months that follow. She recently did that in discussing how her Charlottesville – Weekend Update appearance dropped the ball in her mind in terms of its messaging.
The other thing with Tina is that there aren’t too many major characters she plays, largely because she was known most for Weekend Update. Our hope is to get her back at the desk with Amy Poehler, while also reuniting her at some point with Kenan Thompson — one of the few cast members who was actually there during her era.

Is this the last show for any cast members?
There will probably be a few changes this summer, given that there always is. However, nobody is confirmed to be leaving at present.
