Falling Water canceled at USA; no season 3 coming
According to a report from Deadline, the show was officially canceled recently with low ratings being the overall reason. Unfortunately, this news is not a surprise given that the show did not generate much traction either in the ratings or on social media during its second season. Yet, at the same time we would argue that Falling Water also did not have much of a chance from the moment it premiered this season.
For starters, for some reason USA inexplicably decided to launch the second season of the show on Saturday nights, traditionally not a time in which there are a whole lot of viewers around to check the show out in the first place. Beyond just that, there wasn’t an abundance of promotion to go along with it. Ultimately, it felt almost like USA was satisfied with the show just airing and then it getting whatever it could from a streaming deal over at Amazon; yet, that clearly was not going to be enough which led to the show being in the position in which it’s now in … one in which it is gone. (In general, we do think that this show could have been a better fit at USA’s sister network in Syfy, at least in terms of its content and also the way in which it was put together.)
With the ratings that the series drew during its run, there’s almost no chance that Falling Water will continue anywhere else. That is a real shame for its fans and hopefully, we get to see some of the cast and crew involved in some other projects coming up that serve as a little more of a suitable use for some of their talents.
