Is Blue Bloods season 9 approaching, or avoiding, the endgame?
There is no denying that the one that we are talking about today is especially touchy, mostly because it revolves around the long-term future of the series on CBS. Being on the air for eight seasons going into a ninth is absolutely amazing. That is especially the case for a show that is airing on Friday nights, which are commonly referred to as a TV graveyard where low rated shows are often sent to die and eventually get cancelled. Blue Bloods has completely flourished there. Not only are the view ratings consistent, but they are also very good in comparison to many other shows on CBS.
When you think about things from the commercial standpoint, it is hard to imagine that CBS will want to end the show at any point in the near future. Blue Bloods retains its viewership very well, and that helps to offset some factors such as continuing to pay the cast and the high cost of filming in New York City.
The larger question that you do have to wonder moving forward with Blue Bloods is simply just how long people who are involved in the show will continue to want to be a part of it. As of right now, there are no indications that anyone else is interested in leaving, but at the same time there were no indications prior to her exit that Amy Carlson was interested in leaving, either. Blue Bloods is a show that does have a tendency to blindside us here and there. it makes perfect sense that at some point down the road, any one of the cast members may eventually decide that they want to move on. It’s understandable.
Could you eventually replace one of the series regulars? Maybe, but why would you want to? The real focal point of the series is the entire Reagan family, and this is not just a show about a single star. With that in mind, it is really difficult to imagine the series Without Danny or Erin or Jamie or Frank. These four specifically are the anchors and most of the rest of the show revolves around them. In turn, we don’t want to lose Eddie, Baez, Henry, Nicky, or any of the kids.
With there being no indication that any longtime regular is interested in leaving the show, our hope is that Blue Bloods makes it to a season ten. As for life beyond that, it’s hard to know. If there is a point in which it seems like the series is starting to wind up, our hope would be that the producers could find a way to create some sort of spin-off within this world that focuses on one of the main characters. It wouldn’t be the same without the family dinners, but that could be a way to keep the Reagans in our lives for a little while longer.
