The 100 season 5 kills off major character in episode 2
It was last year that the reports first came out about Isaiah Washington not returning to the show as a full-fledged regular this season and now, we understand why. In the episode tonight the character of Jaha was killed off in a more heroic fashion than what we saw from for most of the show.
Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, series boss Jason Rothenberg had the following to say about the exit of the character:
“Sadly, it’s true — RIP, Jaha … It was important to me for that character to go out as a hero. He was controversial over the course of his time on the show, but I really loved him and I wanted to make sure he went out as a hero, not as a villain. And I thought that would surprise a lot of people. His performance was amazing, and his relationship that develops with Octavia was surprising. I will miss writing for such a talented human being.”
If there is one thing that we’re hoping to get from this death, it’s a greater sense of what Jaha meant to some of the other characters — and also how much his death has meaning for what lies ahead. This death really does serve as another super-great example of one thing more than anything else: When it comes to this series, nobody is really safe. There is almost always going to be chaos lurking around almost every corner and with that in mind, you have to be worried for whatever is next.
