Suits season 8 premiere date hopes for Gabriel Macht, cast
Let’s kick things off here by hammering out some of the finer details that have already been reported, starting with this: There will be an eighth season of Suits coming up at some point in the future. This was confirmed earlier this year by USA and while it felt like it was always close to a sure thing, there was a little bit of doubt because of the series losing Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle from the cast. The ratings, while down, are still good enough to keep the show going; also, it has a popular following internationally and has even inspired a Korean show based on the same subject.
Basically, the network still considers this a valuable property even without the characters of Mike Ross and Rachel Zane involved.
There are also a few other things that are interesting about season 8, starting with the fact that you are getting to see more of Dule Hill (Alex Williams) and Amanda Schull (Katrina Bennett)! Both have been formally picked up as regulars for the eighth season and joining them will be Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler. The former Grey’s Anatomy star worked previously with Hill on the short-lived CBS legal series Doubt.
As for the Suits season 8 premiere date…
Given that production on the latest batch of episodes is already underway, there is very little reason to think that this won’t air in the summer. Every season to date has kicked off in either late June or July, and we’re a little more inclined here to say the latter just because this season aired so late into the spring — the reason this aired later was because of the Winter Olympics and, presumably, an attempt by USA to take advantage of some of the buzz surrounding Markle and her wedding to Prince Harry.
Our hope is that Suits returns for season 8 with its familiar structure of airing ten episodes in the summer and then the remaining six starting in late January. This is a better time for good ratings and with the winter Olympics not on the air for another three years, there is plenty of time for the show to revert to the old schedule.
As for whether or not season 8 is meant to be the final one, nothing is official as of yet. Typically, USA dramas (See Psych as well as Monk and Royal Pains) do not tend to last longer than eight seasons. Nonetheless, the network clearly loves Suits (and so do we!) so much that they already ordered a spin-off series starring Gina Torres as Jessica Pearson.
