Lethal Weapon season 3 reportedly in danger due to Clayne Crawford behavior
According to a report from Deadline, Fox is reconsidering the future of the series over what seem to be issues on set with series star Clayne Crawford. The allegations stem from emotional abuse to creating a hostile work environment, ones that may be making him difficult to be around. This is the sort of situation that doesn’t really require a whole lot of context. All of this sounds terrible and it puts a pall on what is, at least on screen, a fun and enjoyable series. Lethal Weapon is great entertainment and escapism; it’s a shame the actions of someone behind the scenes could be impacting it negatively.
It’s pretty understandable now that this entire situation puts Fox in a pickle when it comes to the future of the series. The ratings for Lethal Weapon are not so strong that it is an automatic renewal for another season. Meanwhile, it’s based on a series of films that are all about the characters of Riggs and Murtaugh. It’s not altogether easy to just dismiss Crawford, if that is what the studio and Fox decide, and throw another character in that place. Recasting the role is a possibility but you’re working up against the clock for that to happen. You have to find someone who is a capable actor for the leading role and also available starting this summer to film potentially 22 more episodes.
We don’t envy the position that Fox is now in with the status of the show, but it’s pretty apparent that any sort of hostile work environment potentially created by anyone, from a producer to an actor to a crew member, should not be tolerated. This should’ve been the case even before such behavior started making headlines.
