Riverdale season 2 episode 18 return date: ‘Carrie the Musical’
Unfortunately, learning the return date here comes with some bad news since we’re not just talking about an episode that is airing a week from now. Instead, you’re going to be waiting until Wednesday, April 18 in order to check out “Chapter Thirty-One: A Night to Remember,” arguably the most ambitious episode of Riverdale to date! Not only are you getting a tribute to Carrie, but it’s also happening in the form of a musical. Usually, shows do tend to wait a few seasons before busting out their big musical episode. Consider this year Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and the entire team really pushing themselves to the limit.
For some more specifics, The CW has you covered via the logline below:
RIVERDALE HIGH PRESENTS “CARRIE THE MUSICAL” – As Riverdale High begins rehearsals for its upcoming production of “Carrie the Musical,” the arrival of an ominous letter forces director Kevin (Casey Cott) to make a difficult decision about the show. Jughead (Cole Sprouse) uses his cover as the musical’s documentarian to solve the mystery behind the letter. Meanwhile, tensions between Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) continue to escalate just as Alice (Madchen Amick) announces she is joining the musical to spend more time with Betty. Elsewhere, Hiram (Mark Consuelos) enacts a devious plan to further drive a wedge between Fred (Luke Perry) and Archie (KJ Apa), while Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) channels Carrie White during a showdown with her mother. Marisol Nichols, Ashleigh Murray and Skeet Ulrich also star. Jason Stone directed the episode written by Arabella Anderson & Tessa Leigh Williams (#218). Original airdate 4/18/2018.
Basically, this musical can be described as good news mixed with bad. It’s an opportunity to see some moments of joy (and more evidence as to the cast’s singing ability — yet, simultaneously there is darkness underneath the surface courtesy of that letter. There are going to be fights, plans, and devious schemes like nobody’s business. This episode should set the stage (musical pun, we know) for whatever is coming the rest of the season.
Other good news to remember
No matter what happens with the musical episode, know this: There is going to be a Riverdale season 3! The series was renewed by The CW earlier this week in the midst of a mass renewal for some other shows. There is no specific episode count just yet, but that information will probably come more either at upfronts or over the summer.
