Instinct, NCIS: Los Angeles, Madam Secretary delayed; new start time
So what’s going on here? It shouldn’t come as much of a shock to anyone, but because of NCAA basketball those three series are being held back around 35 minutes. Instinct, for example, has been bushed back until 8:35 p.m. Eastern, give or take. Meanwhile, NCIS: Los Angeles will be on the at around 9:35 and then Madam Secretary one hour after that.
Could these three shows end up facing some ratings falls because of the delay? Possibly, but they could also benefit from airing following a big 60 Minutes episode tonight. That could end up helping all of these shows, at least if someone ends up making the decision to leave the TV on, anyway.
Hopefully, we are nearing the end of the road when it comes to some of these shows being delayed — we do think there won’t be too many more the rest of the season. There is no more college basketball, after all, after the National Championship Game … but there is still golf and that could play a role in the weeks to come. These delays mostly just stink because for many weeks this fall, we ended up seeing all of these shows being held back for NFL football, which has a tendency to wreck schedules every year at around this time.

These shows do deserve a larger audience, mostly because they are bringing a lot of different elements to some classic genres like cop shows and political dramas. There’s a little bit of action, plenty of drama, and even a little bit of romance here and there. No matter what, there is quite a bit of content here to like so we’ll see what happens with the ratings the rest of the way.
