Shadowhunters season 3 episode 1 video: Magnus shares some news with Alec
As you can see in the video below, Magnus Bane is back seeing clients once more, including someone who is looking for a magical boost of sorts for their career on stage. This surprises Alec, but it starts to make a little more sense when Magnus tells him that he is no longer High Warlock. He was removed from the post over his decision regarding warlocks and the Seelie Queen, which in turn means that he is free to start seeing clients again. That conflict of interest isn’t quite there anymore.
We do think that Magnus is more upset on this than he’s letting on — for starters, it seems as though he’s pouring himself a drink out of nowhere, and we’ve never quite thought of him as a character motivated by finances. Everyone loves to make a little bit of cash here and there, but we don’t exactly think that this is a character primarily driven by a desire to make money. There have always been some other things going on with him.
No matter how he’s feeling, we’re pretty sure that Alec will be there in order to help him get through it. The bond that the two parties share is strong, and they’ve shown that time and time again with some of what they’ve endured. They’ve emerged through the other side after a number of both internal and external conflicts; with that, you certainly have to imagine that they are also going to tackle whatever happens from here on out.
