Alan Cumming apologizes for announcing Doctor Who season 11 casting early
Well, apparently Cumming got so excited with his casting that he leaked it a little bit earlier than he was supposed to. In a new post on Twitter, the actor apologized for what he said, saying that he was supposed to wait for an official BBC announcement but didn’t. It’s true that the majority of the time, the network does issue some sort of formal press release making it clear precisely what is going on. They make it big, formal, and they do it with quotes from some of the producers and the network.

Will this premature announcement from Cumming actually hurt his ability to come on the show at some point in the future beyond this first appearance? We don’t think so. That is really going to be up more towards Doctor Who viewers to determine what exactly it is that they want from the show — we know that for us, it’d be amazing if there was more just because we love Alan Cumming. (As a reminder, he’s got a new show premiering on CBS in Instinct, which is airing this weekend.)
The new episodes of Doctor Who are going to start airing at some point a little bit later this year. Hopefully, there are some more casting announcements that are going to be coming in the weeks ahead that give us more of a sense as to what the entire season featuring Jodie Whittaker is going to be like.
