Jessica Jones season 2 trailer features anger management gone awry
The latest Jessica Jones season 2 trailer has now found its way online, and based on some of CarterMatt’s earliest impressions it feels like we’ve got quite a bit to look forward to here.
Before diving into the trailer itself, let’s start off by sharing what Netflix considers to the official logline for this season:
New York City private investigator Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) is beginning to put her life back together after taking down her tormenter, Kilgrave. Now known throughout the city as a super-powered killer, a new case makes her reluctantly confront who she really is while digging deeper into her past to explore the reasons why.
This batch of episodes is set to showcase even more of Jessica’s investigative abilities while also allowing her a little bit more freedom to focus on some more of her powers — there are still going to be many reckless moments with them, but that is in turn part of the fun. We think that one of the main reasons why Jessica Jones is considered by many the strongest one of Netflix’s superhero shows is just because it’s the least earnest. This is not always a program about doing the right thing; instead, it’s about the relatability of watching someone struggle to fit in while also boozing the day away and swearing like a sailor. Jessica is many people out there out there who are going through their best and worst days. It’s incredibly dark and serious at times but there are some moments of humor.
The thing to be the most fearful of entering season is simply this: The eventual return of David Tennant as Kilgrave. It’s not entirely clear how he may turn up (it could be via flashback, dream sequence or he just won’t leave her mind and she may be battling a form of PTSD), but he may very well be the most despicable villain that has been in any of these Marvel – Netflix shows. He really set the bar on a level that has made it difficult for Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and even The Defenders to reach.
Jessica Jones season 2 premieres on Netflix come Friday, March 8 (International Women’s Day) on Netflix.
