Madam Secretary season 4: What should lie ahead for Sara Ramirez’s Kat Sandoval?

Joining CBS’s Madam Secretary this season was Sara Ramirez as Elizabeth’s Policy Advisor, Kat Sandoval and we’ve loved seeing on this show. Her character is edgy and basically gives it straight to Elizabeth. She thinks outside the box and this was something Elizabeth needed, especially as international crises got problematic. In addition, Sandoval’s history in politics made her even more attracting to fans because she was controversial and Elizabeth was never known as that. So for the remainder of Season 4 here’s how we’d like to see the show do with Kat Sandoval.

Use her controversial nature – This is something that we found intriguing and we believe the show should use this. Elizabeth is surrounded by a great group of people. However, sometimes we’d like to see her team have a little life in them. Kat Sandoval was a breath of fresh air and at first, she didn’t quite belong. However, that’s what we liked and one reason we wanted to tune in the next week was to explore this character who didn’t fit the norm. Yes, she had experience in politics so she wasn’t out of it, but Kat’s methods were and we want to see her use them for Elizabeth.

Her background – We know about her famous outburst that led her to leave politics, but what else is there to Kat Sandoval? We know she’s passionate about the government; otherwise she wouldn’t have returned to it. But what sparked that interest? Was it just something she was always interested in? Again, character background stories are typically only told if they relate to episode storyline, which is why we want there to be episode that includes this. Knowing more about Kat Sandoval will also allow fans to get to know her better and cheer for her, much like fans do with Elizabeth.

If you want fans to return, give them a character they can develop a relationship with. Give them someone who they are intrigued by and someone they can become obsessed with. By doing this, we believe the show can also attract new audience members because fans will post on social media hoping to get others as obsessed as they are. To us Kat Sandoval has the potential to be this character, along with Elizabeth.

Overall, we want the series to utilize Kat Sandoval in order to give the show more success.
