MacGyver season 2 reportedly adds one extra episode to order

MacGyver season 2

Who doesn’t want an additional dose of MacGyver season 2? We’ve got some good news for those out there who love the CBS series and certainly don’t mind getting more of it.

According to a report from SpoilerTV, the network has officially ordered one more episode of the Lucas Till – George Eads series, which brings its total up to 23. That means that there are two additional episodes from season 1, which had a rather-odd 21 episodes that seemed to be done, at least for the time being, for scheduling reasons.

Doing 23 episodes for any show is a huge undertaking, but our feeling is that this was done in order to keep MacGyver all the more aligned with Hawaii Five-0 on the schedule. Remember that the latter show often tends to have seasons of 23-25 episodes every year, whereas Blue Bloods (which closes out Friday nights) tends to wrap up at around 22.

MacGyver season 2 is gearing up for what may actually be its biggest episode of the season on Friday night, as Michael Des Barres (who played the original Murdoc on the series so many years ago) is going to be guest-starring in a completely new villainous role. This is a chance for the show to both play homage to its roots while also allowing you an opportunity to see another new challenge thrown in the direction of Mac and Jack. From our estimation this is the series offering up the best of both worlds.

This extra episode should serve as another reminder, as well, that CBS is loving what they are getting from MacGyver and they are looking towards a season 3 renewal — not that you should be altogether surprised about this. The series has easily won its timeslot throughout season 2 and draws nice total viewer and DVR figures after the fact. Throughout this season it seems to have worked itself into a rather-nice groove and we’ve got a good feeling that it will be around for many more years to come.
