Preparing for Absentia US launch: Stana Katic’s Facebook live; other updates
Are you ready for the Absentia US launch? It’s been a long time coming but we’re finally almost there…
Obviously, the biggest thing to remember if you’re an American viewer is that come Friday, the entire first season of the Stana Katic series is going to be available on Amazon for your viewing pleasure. Leading up to that, though, there may be a chance to ask Katic all sorts of questions in regards to the series.
On January 29 at 1:30 p.m. Pacific time (4:30 p.m. Eastern), she will be available on Amazon Prime Video’s Facebook page (see the link in the embedded tweet CarterMatt has for you below) to answer all sorts of questions regarding the series. It’s a chance to have a little bit of interactive fun while also spreading the word about the series in America.
We’re excited to see what the promotional tour for Katic is like in the US, especially since the timing for Absentia and its launch has turned out to be really smart. Think about some of the programming coming out in the States over the next month: There isn’t much. Because of the Super Bowl and/or the Winter Olympics, most networks are shying away from bringing much in the way of new programming to the table. What that means in turn for Absentia is that they have an opportunity to take advantage of a hole in the market. Not everyone loves NFL football and while many of us may love America and cheer our country on in the Olympics, we’re not necessarily watching every event under the sun. (Technically, you could probably watch all ten Absentia episodes before the start of either one of these sporting events anyway.)
For all Canadians out there, remember that Absentia episode 2 airs this weekend on Showcase. Our friends north of the border continue to do a great job of promoting the series; we’ll have a little bit more of our coverage on that soon.
Rest assured that we’re going to continue to be your home for all things Absentia, regardless of wherever you are located in either the US or Canada. We always do our best to mark every article for spoilers if there is content you may not want to know about in advance.
