The Terror trailer: See more of Tobias Menzies, Ciaran Hinds’ AMC series
Over the course of this weekend, AMC launched their new The Terror trailer featuring Ciaran Hinds and Tobias Menzies — as a result of that, we all certainly have quite a bit to be excited about!
The video HERE offers up what is an up-close-and-personal look at the upcoming season of the show, which features a crew doing everything that they can in order to find the Northwest Passage. This is a series that in some ways is a historical drama. Yet, at the same time it also has a significant touch of horror throughout. You have blood, fear, and the sort of loneliness that comes with being at the edge of the earth. Members of the crew find themselves being attacked and killed, and the larger question what is attacking them? Is it a monster, an animal, or something else entirely?
Maybe you can consider this series as some sort of combination of monster movie and historical epic; or, maybe this is a psychological thriller. Maybe these are the sort of stories that sailors tell over the years to entertain themselves during long voyages. The Terror is a scary show and it also looks to be a visually stunning show at the same time. You don’t get many series that are set in this sort of icy kingdom, and we have to imagine that trying to replicate that was no easy task for producers.
Beyond of course the idea of the series, the cast is outstanding — we’ve already mentioned Hinds (Rome) and Outlander / Game of Thrones alum Menzies. You also cannot forget about Mad Men alum Jared Harris, who is also going to have a significant role. These three men will be some of the voices that you hear from throughout the series as they deal with exploration, idealism, and ultimately survival when their dream quickly becomes a nightmare. Even if they do manage to find a way to China, is it really going to be worth it after all they go through?
