Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 10 title reveal: Religious connotations abound

Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 10 will be airing on ABC a little bit later this month, and we’re already getting a good sense that this one will stir up all sorts of discussion.

What’s the title for Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 10? Think along the lines of “Personal Jesus.”

This title, first reported by SpoilerTV, is far from the first time that this or any other scripted drama series has intentionally invoked religion. Yet, it’s probably wrong to think that this is going to be an overtly religious episode of the series. “Personal Jesus” is probably not so much about a deity as it is just trying to find someone or something that helps a character get through a day.

For some, that personal Jesus could be someone else. We know that Alex finds a sense of love in Jo, and Jo may find an essential ally in him — especially given some of what she is going through with Paul Stadler seeking her out. Meanwhile, it’s also very well possible that a personal Jesus could just be something habitual — maybe for a tired doctor an exercise class, the feeling of saving a life, or even something as simple as a cup of coffee is enough to help them feel like the best version of themselves. It’s a savior in an interesting, unexpected way.

Many Grey’s Anatomy fans know that the episode titles are often references to songs. “Personal Jesus” just so happens to be one from Depeche Mode. Check out the music video below. While we don’t necessarily think that the song or its lyrics should be translated into the episode itself, it’s nonetheless worthy as a source of additional insight.

Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 10 is an episode we anticipate having more information on soon, possibly as early as later this weekend. Remember that while you wait for that, the series itself returns to ABC with all-new episodes on Thursday, January 18. That episode will pick up almost where the story left off in the winter finale.
