What’s on Tonight (January 3): The Blacklist, Amazing Race 30, SVU, X-Files, and more
As always, all the times listed are Eastern standard — check your local listings if one of your favorites isn’t listed in this CarterMatt article. Also, remember that The CW is still on hiatus until the end of the month.
8:00 – You’ve got a lot of great choices here! The Amazing Race 30 is premiering over at CBS, while at the same time The X-Files season 11 is going to be going strong at Fox for the first episode in almost two years.
Meanwhile, NBC has the excellent winter premiere of The Blacklist — the title here is “Ruin,” and we’ve got a feeling that nothing will be the same for Liz Keen by the end of it. ABC is running new episodes of The Goldbergs followed by Speechless.
9:00 – Another really good timeslot tonight. You’ve got SEAL Team doing an episode almost entirely in real time, whereas Law & Order: SVU will be giving you the other side of their Noah-centric cliffhanger. Fox will be premiering their new Connie Britton series 911, and over on ABC you’ve got Modern Family followed by American Housewife.
Oh, and did we mention Vikings? There’s a new episode of it coming to History. If you’re not watching, you really should be.
10:00 – Things get a little lighter here, but not by much. You’ve got a episode of Criminal Minds on CBS, a new Chicago PD on NBC, and then Match Game over on ABC. You’ve also got Knightfall coming back on the air over at History.
If you like quality scripted TV — and watching reality stars racing all over the world — January 3 is the night for you.
