NCIS in 2018: What do we want from TV’s most-watched show?

What could be coming up for NCIS in 2018, and what should be coming up? These are both questions that we’re ready to discuss today in our year-end piece! We’ve got the majority of season 15 still to come, and by most indications there is a lot of story to explore. We’ve got some big arcs, the departure of Pauley Perrette as Abby, and likely a few other surprises that we’re going to get along the way.

For now, we like to think that the five things below are a perfect jumping-off point to what the rest of the season should be bringing to the table.

1. More episodes for Duane Henry and Brian Dietzen – We had easily the best Clayton Reeves episode since his debut earlier this season, and we’re hoping that this is a trend that is going to continue. He’s a character worthy of our investment and our time; it’s our hope that the writers find more ways to allow him to shine plus also giving us another great Jimmy Palmer episode like we’ve gotten in the past.

2. Give us a great villain – We’ve suggested already that this said villain should be Gabriel Hicks and we more than hope that’s the case. It’s not often that we get chances to see someone best the NCIS team and he’s the character of character capable of doing that on a regular basis.

3. Have another NCIS: New Orleans crossover – We haven’t really heard much on the crossover front as of late but this has been a great component to the show the past couple of years. Isn’t it worth doing to keep the ratings for those two shows as strong as possible?

4. Give Abby a proper send-off – We don’t want to just see the character written out of the show two episodes before the end because of a sudden career development that comes out nowhere. Our hope is that there are hints coming soon that her exit is coming and she’s thinking a little bit about what she wants to do with the remainder of her life. We like to imagine that her departure could be career-oriented, but that’s not necessarily the case.

5. Get a season 16 renewal – NCIS may have some live+same-day ratings drops, but it remains the most-watched show on TV around the world. As a result of that, we have a hard time thinking that we’re going to be saying goodbye to the series anytime soon. Even with the cast runaround we strongly feel like the show lasts as long as the folks behind the scenes want to keep making episodes. Expect renewal news to come in either March or April.
