SAG Awards 2018 snubs: The Leftovers, Outlander, Freddie Highmore, and others
It should not come as much of a surprise to anyone that there are some significant SAG Awards 2018 snubs that we have to report on here today. This is an awards-show with a history of snubbing a number of different acting ensembles and stars, and this year is no exception. We wish that we could see in the future more nominations per category, just as we would also wish that this show would start being a little bit less predictable. They tend to favor the same shows and performers year after year — heck, just last year Downton Abbey was still nominated. We love ourselves some Downton, but it almost feels at this point like that show ended ages ago.
Below are some of our more egregious snubs.
The Deuce – The series was largely ignored here after Maggie Gyllenhaal was the recipient of some love at the Golden Globes.
The Good Place – What does the NBC show and star Kristen Bell have to do in order to get a little bit of love here?
American Gods – Its enormous and outstanding cast wasn’t able to crack into the SAG Awards’ armor for shows that are somewhat off the beaten path.
Outlander – It’s no surprise that the series and its stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are getting the snub — it’s happened so many times in the past already.
The Leftovers – It’s also a shame that, once more, one of the finest drama series in recent memory couldn’t get more love for either itself or its cast in the finale season.
Freddie Highmore – Despite The Good Doctor taking much of television by storm this fall, Highmore couldn’t get some love as Dr. Shaun Murphy.
Michael McKean – Call us crazy, but we would’ve preferred to see him nominated this year over his Better Call Saul co-star Bob Odenkirk.
Katherine Langford – She got a nod for 13 Reasons Why at the Golden Globes, but didn’t end up getting one here.
The stunt teams for Arrow or Iron Fist – Say what you will about these superhero shows, but they have some of the finest stunt actors in the business and it feels like the SAG Awards voters went more with just shows that they like that, in some instances, just so happen to have a stunt team.

Actually, I have read from previous years that Outlander is not eligible for SAG as no scenes are filmed in the USA.
