Did Drizella cast the curse on Once Upon a Time season 7? Answers soon
Rest assured, though, that before Once Upon a Time takes a break, you will get a chance to know some of the information that you’re interested in getting! For more on that, just take a look at what Lana Parrilla had to say on the subject to Entertainment Weekly:
“You will learn by the winter finale who has cast the curse and why … There will be some fun magic battles. The most exciting thing that’s happening in the winter finale is we are seeing a familiar character return, and we are also going to learn who cast this curse and why.”
No matter who cast the curse, what matters to us more than anything else is the motivation behind it and also what the aftermath of it is. If it’s the foundation for an epic showdown in the second half of the season, it’s great. However, if the motive isn’t up to snuff then it’s a reveal that feels somewhat like a waste. There are a couple of different ways things could still go here. What made the curse such an integral plot point back in season 1 was that the Evil Queen had such a specific reason for casting it — a desire to keep so many other characters from their own happy endings, separating them out and leaving them in this sort of strange Groundhog Day sort of existence. That was effective in that the motive was so heartbreaking — Regina was such a broken person that she felt as though the only way for her to achieve happiness was to snatch said happiness away from other people. In the end, she realized that over time this didn’t quite work and it only led to additional pain.
