Chicago PD season 5 fall finale preview: Mole mayhem and more

The Chicago PD season 5 fall finale is airing on NBC come Wednesday, December 6, and the name of the game is chaos. This is the installment where there should be a confrontation like no other between Voight and Ruzek, and to make matters worse, Intelligence is tasked with stopping a drug ring that is spreading throughout the Chicago area. This is a big task, and not one altogether suited for a unit that is as divided as this one is right now.

CarterMatt has the Chicago PD season 5 fall finale synopsis below and it does a good job of illuminating some of the story that is coming up:

12/06/2017 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : INTELLIGENCE WORKS TO TAKE DOWN AN OPIOID RING AFTER THE DAUGHTER OF A PROMINENT JUDGE DIES OF AN OVERDOSE. The death of Judge Tommy Wells’ (guest star John Pankow) daughter puts Intelligence on the track of a pill mill spreading into the suburbs of Chicago and the doctor enabling it. Meanwhile, Voight (Jason Beghe) discovers who’s been leaking information from the 21st. Also starring Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, Elias Koteas, Marina Squerciati, LaRoyce Hawkins, Amy Morton and Tracy Spiridakos. Guest starring Monica Barbaro, Anabelle Acosta and Mykelti Williamson.

We’ll admit that the drug-ring storyline sounds interesting, but it’s going to be rather tough for it (or almost any other story) to hold much of a candle to what is coming up with Ruzek and Voight. This is something that has been building for weeks and no matter his intention we cannot see Voight being altogether kind to Ruzek who decided to snitch on the team. He’s the sort of person who could in fact get very angry about it.

Is Voight in some serious danger of being arrested? It may sound like standard-TV-hype and exaggeration but we do genuinely believe that he is. Police departments are entering a new era around the country and we feel like the fictionalized one in Chicago is following that lead in many ways. The Chicago PD team is going to be subject to some of these changes and Voight isn’t a saint or anything close to it.
