Bachelor Winter Games: International Bachelor participation confirmed
In a post on Twitter today executive producer Mike Fleiss confirmed that there will be contestants from foreign versions of the franchise taking part here. He introduced us to Jordan, but here’s a little more information about the man named Jordan Mauger — and it’s pretty crazy!
Mauger was a recent participant on the show in New Zealand, and apparently, this is a man who chose the “winner” of his season by flipping a coin at the end. Yep. That happened. This is a man who realized that he didn’t have a future with either of his final two, chose one at random, and then dumped them the day after filming. This is one of the most ridiculous stories we’ve ever heard about with this franchise — and CarterMatt has heard a lot of them over the years.
In speaking about this in a new interview with a local podcast, Mauger described his decision-making as such:
“I was standing there ready to go, and the first helicopter’s waiting, and they said, ‘Who are we putting in it? … So I flipped a coin.”
Production did not know at the time that this is how he made his decision, and on the show it was presented as though he followed his heart and was in love with his winner, Fleur.
We almost hope he brings a coin with him and uses it to determine all of his Bachelor Winter Games decisions. Maybe he’ll eventually become like the Tommy Lee Jones version of Two-Face from Batman Forever and when he actually wants something, he’ll just flip the coin again and again until he gets the desired result.
Jordan is going to be joined presumably by many other international contestants. We would imagine that there will be some from Canada given its close proximity — we also have a feeling that Fleiss and ABC are going to do everything in their power to get either Megan Marx, Tiffany Scanlon, or both from The Bachelor Australia. If you didn’t hear the headlines many months ago they were the two women who fell in love with each other rather than the man at the center of their season. (Clearly, all of the really notable Bachelor stories are the ones in other countries.) Marx and Scanlon are no longer together, so that may make the whole story a little more awkward.
As of right now, we know that Luke Pell is going to help represent America’s Bachelor series. More names are likely coming.
