Arrow season 6 episode 4 confirms Michael Emerson is Cayden James
Over the course of tonight’s episode the mysterious Helix leader was finally unmasked after making a small appearance last season in a hoodie. Emerson was first announced as a key component of the season back at Comic-Con this past summer, and at that time it was thought that he was a huge casting coup for the show (for good reason). It’s Michael Emerson! The man was iconic on Lost and then iconic again on Person of Interest. It’s also easy to figure out why the show wanted him for this role given that James takes a little bit from both Benjamin Linus and Harold Finch to make one delicious villain. He’s devious, he’s ruthless when he needs to be, and like Ben, he holds the capacity for a whole lot of evil and can be incredibly influential.
The question that CarterMatt has at the moment is this: Why in the world would The CW not just go ahead and announce this in advance? Did it really add anything to the show ? It’s not like we didn’t know in advance that Emerson was on the show. This felt like a mystery just for the sake of being a mystery, which is certainly an odd thing for this show to do. At this point, we’re just glad that there’s a chance to have this resolved so now we can focus on some other things, including learning what his master plan is? After all, it was revealed tonight that he is the one responsible for helping Black Siren off of Liam Yu. He has a larger purpose for her, and something that we’ll get some more insight on as time goes by.
