Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 7 preview: The 300th episode

Grey’s Anatomy season 14 episode 7 will feature many big revelations, but it will be remembered as one thing above all else: The 300th episode! This is a culmination of everything on the show to date, a chance to tell an epic story, and also an opportunity to do something different than what we see on the show to date.

One thing that will make “Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story” a little more special is that this is an episode that was filmed in part in Seattle. We’ve seen a little footage here and there from the Emerald City throughout the season, but there’ll be more of it in this hour than any other this season. You’ve also got the photo of Ellen Pompeo as Meredith above — a pretty clear callback to Derek and some of the symbolism of ferries on this show. We’ve seen them referenced for a number of key events, which is probably enough to make you worried about whatever is coming up next.

“After a roller coaster car falls off the track at the county fair, the doctors at Grey Sloan tend to patients who spark memories about ghosts from their past.”

First of all, wouldn’t it have been more apt if there was an accident with a carousel than a roller coaster, given how often Shonda Rhimes has used that ride as a metaphor for this show? It feels that way.

Anyhow, beyond this accident we imagine that there will be some flashbacks that play out in some rather interesting ways. We will get an opportunity to see the past referenced in a few different ways — including some that you will be surprised about. We know that the inclination upon reading something like this is that you would get a clip show, but we’d be shocked if that actually happens. There are some other ways in which you can reference the past that don’t involve showing scenes from earlier seasons.

The promo below gives you a small taste of the 300th episode, including “Chasing Cars” — clearly the most famous song to be featured on this show. It pretty much made it a hit.
