NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 6 review: Lasalle in crisis

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 episode 6

NCIS: New Orleans continued its winning streak of great character episodes on Tuesday night, and this time around Christopher Lasalle was in the spotlight.

Lasalle found himself in a tricky spot in this episode — dealing with his other father Beau while tackling some deadly issues related to the case at hand. A woman named Chloe was on a murderous rampage, killing men with high security clearances as an act of revenge over what happened to her own father. We love it when the NCIS franchise brings out great female adversaries and puts some of our characters in dangerous positions. Chloe did just that as she put Lasalle’s life in jeopardy as he went undercover to expose her for some of her misdeeds. As is often the case with this show, we ended up seeing various characters at gunpoint, but not before Lasalle understood more of her backstory and why she was so convinced that, (at least in her mind) her actions were justified.

Pride often acts as a surrogate father to Lasalle and even did so once again at the end of the episode, encouraging him to meet up with this father to discuss his dad’s business — something that he wanted no part of. Much of their tension seems to stem from the two having very different visions for what Lasalle’s life should be. Beau wanted to project his own dreams and desires onto him, and refused to accept the point of view his son had about being an agent and continuing to do more of what he does best. When Lasalle challenged his father, his father basically got up and left. This was a side of him that he was not used to seeing.

Some out there to want more of Percy and Lasalle, but that wasn’t much of a focus tonight. It would’ve been great to learn more about their relationship and where they stand within this episode, but we also understand why that didn’t happen. Lasalle is worth more than a singular personal relationship; he is a complex character trying to balance different parts of his life. Without his father around there is somewhat of a void there. This episode explored more of the reason why he has so much respect for Pride, and also the importance of the team working together in order to achieve a common goal. Without Lasalle they wouldn’t have been able to collect all necessary information on Chloe. However, without the remainder of the team there would have been no clear way for her to actually be stopped.

CarterMatt Verdict

Cheers to Lucas Black for a great performances on Tuesday, and to go along that we also want to give Natalie Hall some applause for her take on Chloe. If it was a lesser villain, this part of the story would not have worked.
