The X-Files season 11 spoilers: Haley Joel Osment joining
According to a report coming in via TVLine, Osment — best known for his role in The Sixth Sense — is going to be appearing in at least one episode of the upcoming 11th season (premiering in early 2018). For the time being Fox is remaining cagey on his exact role, but early speculation suggests that the character could be playing a younger version of Skinner for a big backstory episode. Osment showed in The Sixth Sense that he can play within the world of the supernatural well and if there are comedic elements within this episode, we also know that he is capable of that thanks to his role on Silicon Valley. Osment had an arc on this past season and it feels like Keenen Feldspar is the sort of character who could be turning up on the show at some point down the road.
Out of all existing characters within this world, the younger version of Skinner makes the most sense. There are certainly other possibilities out there if he is a new character.
The upcoming X-Files season 11 will run for ten episodes, and in true show fashion both the premiere and the finale will have a heavy mythology component. In between those two episodes there will be many opportunities to learn about other characters and see some weird/wonderful stories along the way. None of these may be entertaining for Mulder or Scully to resolve, but they should be very much fun to us as a viewer. It’s been almost two years already since the last batch of episodes aired and with that, every story should have a degree freshness to it. We here at CarterMatt can’t wait for the new season and we will be covering it once again with episode reviews so be sure to check back.
