Ray Donovan season 5 finale spoilers: Ray’s deal, for Smitty’s sake

Ray Donovan season 5 finale

The Ray Donovan season 5 finale is going to be coming your way on Showtime in one week’s time, and everything is coming to a head. This is a story where you are going to see some extremely high stakes, and with that hopefully also a few surprising situations that we get to see unfold. (Of course, with that being said it’s also highly likely that there are going to be a few more situations that everyone sees coming — take, for example, Mickey trying to get one over on Ray. We’ll never believe that these two can get along in peace no matter how long this show ends up running.)

Take a look at the full synopsis for the Ray Donovan season 5 finale, entitled “Time Takes a Cigarette,” below:

“Ray goes to New York to arrange an illicit surgery that will hopefully save Smitty. Sam agrees to help – but only on the condition that Ray commit a brutal act. Meanwhile, Daryll struggles with his loyalties as Mickey tries to get himself out of jail by turning the tables on Ray. Season finale.”

How far is Ray going to go in order to help Smitty? That’s one of the questions to wonder, especially since he’s got some other things to worry about — including still Sam Winslow judging from the photo above. (How great has the arc for Susan Sarandon been this season? She has blown us away every single scene that she’s been a part of.)

Beyond this, there are of course questions regarding whether or not showrunner David Hollander will want to craft some sort of enormous cliffhanger for a potential Ray Donovan season 6. You do have to remember here that there technically hasn’t been a season 6 renewal for the show on Showtime; yet, at the same time we also haven’t quite been altogether concerned. There’s virtually zero reason to be.

What do you think is coming on the Ray Donovan season 5 finale?

With that, do you think that there is going to be some sort of big-time cliffhanger ending? Share some of your thoughts right now in the comments!
