The X-Files season 11 will feature Mulder and Scully’s son William
While we knew that we were going to see this young man play a part in the story somehow, it wasn’t for sure that we would actually see him in the flesh.
Now, we’ve got more confirmation of this very thing via star David Duchovny. Speaking via TVLine, he makes it clear that there is an actor playing this role — though the name hasn’t been revealed yet. He also suggested that William “resembles two people that aren’t Mulder and Scully. And when you read this back [after watching the episodes] you’ll figure this out.”
If that’s not a cryptic tease of something cool coming up in the future, we don’t quite know what is! We want to get a chance to see who this kid is now more than ever! With that being said, there’s almost no incentive for Fox to release this casting news between now and when the show premieres for a wide array of different reasons, with one of the biggest ones being the simple fact that they probably wouldn’t have as cool of a reveal if they kept it under wraps. It makes more sense for them to reveal it publicly and make an enormous spectacle out of it the moment it happens on the show. This would enable us to make judgments based on what we see within the moment as opposed to some of what is leading up to the episode. That’s a little bit more nebulous since you get to know a face but almost nothing else about them. You don’t see their personality or precisely how they end up fitting in and being a part of the story.
Of course we imagine that there will be many more mysteries on The X-Files season 11 where this comes from, largely because this is the sort of show this is — it’s one that loves to cultivate great mysteries and generate some fascinating conversations. With William at the helm moving into season 11, we absolutely feel like many more are coming.
Of course, we do want to know in the comments whatever sort of visions you have for the William character!
