Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 2 preview: Gina Rodriguez’s many characters

Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 2

Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 2 is airing on The CW a week from Friday, and early indications suggest that this one will be fun. Will it be as fun as Fun Jane? That’s what remains to be seen.

One of the central themes entering this episode is one that you see many people often struggle with: Is it wrong to have fun … or too much fun? Jane’s relationship with Adam is causing her to overthink where she is in life, and there are going to be the metaphorical angel and devil on her shoulders telling her what to do. You’ll actually see Gina Rodriguez play these characters and you’ll see various sides of her personality collide against each other. Ultimately, there is probably one way that we would describe this: Entertaining. This allows the show to focus more on some of what makes it so charming: Quirky behavior from some of the various cast members. It brings us back to some of the awkward charm of the very first season.

Obviously, this is Jane the Virgin; with that, there’s going to be so much more going on beyond just this storyline. The synopsis below gives you a little more of a sense of precisely what is going to be coming up here.

Jane the Virgin season 4 episode 2 synopsis – “Jane’s (Gina Rodriguez) burgeoning relationship with Adam (guest star Tyler Posey) helps bring out her fun side and reminds her that she isn’t just a mom.  However, when Adam gets a job opportunity, he asks for Jane’s opinion on if he should stay or go.  Rogelio (Jaime Camil) is facing issues with his co-star at work and things are about to get even worse for him.  Xo (Andrea Navedo) is helping to take care of Darci (guest star Justina Machado) to prove that Rogelio is committed to being a father to the baby.  Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) and Rafael (Justin Baldoni) are working together to try and buy back the hotel, but are running into trouble, causing tension between them.  Ivonne Coll also stars. Gina Lamar directed the episode written by Valentina Garza & Jessica O’Toole & Amy Rardin (#402).  Original airdate 10/20/2017.”
