Criminal Minds season 13 episode 4 preview: Back to ‘Killer App’

Criminal Minds season 13 episode 4

Criminal Minds season 13 episode 4 is probably going to feel fairly confusing when you think about what’s coming. After all, this episode entitled “Killer App” is one that was originally supposed to air tonight! CBS moved the installment back from October 11 to October 18 — there was no explicit reason for the move given, but the easiest assumption to make and/or jump to is that this has something or another to do with the Las Vegas shooting that tragically claimed so many lives. This is an era where people need to be hyper-attune to the climate of the world around us, and especially CBS given that they do have many shows that are rather violent. We don’t blame them for really wanting to be careful and assess that they are airing the right stories at the right time. Otherwise, they could step too far out of the bounds.

By the time “Killer App” airs, there will be more distance between the story and the tragic real-life circumstances. Hopefully, that will ease the concerns of anyone who is a little sensitive.

If you look below, you can see some of the details on Criminal Minds season 13 episode 4 if you haven’t had a chance to see them already in other CarterMatt articles:

“Killer App” – The BAU investigates a workplace shooting committed by a state-of-the-art drone in Silicon Valley, on CRIMINAL MINDS, Wednesday, Oct. 18 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

One of the things that Criminal Minds and many CBS shows do benefit from is flexibility when it comes to being swapped around if need be. While we’ve seen a few serialized elements here and there with this show — the Spencer Reid story is one great example of that — there are also pretty heavy procedural elements that really define it as the show it is. With that, we don’t think that changing up the air date matters all that much — the story should still fresh, in part because this episode was designed, like so many others that came before it, to both work in terms of broadcast and syndicated television. This is an episode that should be able to be watched in the middle of the night without any context as to anything else that is going on.

What do you think about Criminal Minds season 13 episode 4 airing when it is?

Do you applaud CBS for thinking in terms of sensitivity, even if they didn’t necessarily have to do this? Be sure to share some of your thoughts on that subject below!
