MacGyver season 2 episode 3 preview: ‘Roulette Wheel + Wire’

On MacGyver season 2 episode 3 next week, you’re going to have a chance to see on CBS the long-awaited casino episode. This is one we first learned about via Lucas Till this summer, and it’s one that was originally planned to air tonight. (We actually saw a promo for it after the premiere episode.) “Roulette Wheel + Wire” was presumably moved back a week out of sensitivity over the tragic Las Vegas shooting, which is a sensible thing to do on the part of the network, but it will be coming on the air October 13.

MacGyver season 2 episode 3 synopsis – “Using cuff links and wire, MacGyver and the team go undercover in a high stakes casino to steal diamonds from a vault before a terrorist group gets there first and trades the jewels for a weapon of mass destruction, on MACGYVER, Friday, Oct. 13 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.”

It’s easy to understand why the writers came up with this concept for an episode — there are so many great heist movies out there, with Ocean’s Eleven being near the top of the list, and it made sense for the show to be able to tell their own version of that. Here you’re seeing Mac and the steal almost for the greater good. They’re not exactly Robin Hood; instead, they’re more the thieves who steal something before some other extremely-dangerous people steal it first. Seeing how Mac and the team managed to do this should be where most of the entertainment comes from. There does need to be sensitivity to recent events, but we hope by the time this episode airs it will fulfill the purpose of many MacGyver episodes: Fun escapism, and a chance to see something exciting that you don’t get a chance to elsewhere on TV. We just how more viewers watch the show given that we weren’t super-thrilled with some of the numbers for the premiere.
