Arrow season 6 spoilers: Lucifer actor Liam Hall cast as Slade Wilson’s son
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Camp and Lucifer actor Liam Hall has been officially cast as Joe Wilson, a young man who hasn’t exactly had all that many opportunities to spend time with his father. In between the island, being Deathstroke, and being locked away in a prison on Liam Yu, it’s probably not all that hard to figure out just why this separate exists.
Here’s more of how the publication/The CW describes this character: “The son of one of the Green Arrow’s (Stephen Amell) greatest foes, Joe Wilson has followed in his father’s footsteps by joining the secret Australian military agency, A.S.I.S. After years of brutal combat, Joe now finds himself in a remote Kasnian prison under the alias, Kane Wolfman, fighting for his life.”
Sound intimidating? We think that it’s an exciting take on this character, and we’re all about anything that gives Manu Bennett more screen time. Slade’s son should prove himself to be a key part of the two-part Slade backstory arc, which is airing on The CW this fall and being filmed in Vancouver this very week. Bennett has already shared some photos of himself working there as his character.
For the record, Joe Wilson is not the same character who eventually took on the Deathstroke persona on Legends of Tomorrow in the future. That character was Grant Wilson, and there’s no guarantee that this future even exists anymore given all that has transpired since then in the present in order to change things up. The same goes for Diggle’s son being Connor Hawke a.k.a. the new Green Arrow. At that time, Flashpoint did not exist and that in itself may have changed things up in a rather big way.
Slade’s son could presumably be someone we see on multiple occasions in the future, and who knows? Maybe we will end up seeing him even if we don’t see more of Slade. Bennett does have another job in The Shannara Chronicles, so we’re admittedly just happy to have him being a part of Arrow whenever he is available to do it.
New episodes of Arrow premiere this fall on The CW. Be ready to see Slade in the season premiere, and then this backstory two-parter should come a few weeks after that. The folks behind the scenes certainly know how popular the Slade character is, so there is a good chance to see quite a bit of him.
