How To Get Away With Murder: Jimmy Smits joins for season 4 arc
According to Entertainment Weekly, Smits’s character is going to a “prominent figure” in Annalise’s life and will have a major role in this season’s mystery. Besides this, not much is known about his role because it is being kept under wraps.
However Smits’s role could play into the events from the Season 3 finale. The third season of the Shonda Rhimes produced show ended with a bang. It was revealed that Wes (Alfred Enoch) was killed by the mysterious hitman Dominic (Nicholas Gonzalez), who has a connection to Laurel’s father, Jorge Castillo. What made this reveal so shocking was the fact that Laurel (Karla Souza) and Wes were in a relationship at the time of his death and that Laurel’s father disapproved of it.
So will Smits’s Season 4 arc be related to Wes’s death? Or could he be part of a whole new storyline? It’s a safer bet to go with the latter of the two. We believe that Jorge Castillo’s involvement in Wes’s death will continue during Season 4, but as far as Smits’s role goes it would be better for him to be part of a new story. It would drive the series forward and reveal more of Annalise’s character. While fans know plenty about who the main character is, there is so much more to learn.
It’s also going to be interesting to see how Smits’s character will affect the Keating 4 along with Bonnie and Frank. Why? Let’s be honest: Bonnie and Frank know a lot more about Annalise then the fans know, so it if this new character is so prominent in her life, it’s sure to affect the two of them. And this brings up the question of whether or not this character is a positive force in Annalise’s life or a negative one. Well based on the show’s history Smits’s character could be either and no matter which one he is, it’s going to be an exciting and interesting season. But to know for sure fans will have to wait and see.
