Power season 4 star Naturi Naughton, longtime boyfriend welcome child
In a new statement to Us Weekly, the actress (who plays Tasha on the Starz crime drama) confirmed that she and her longtime boyfriend Ben have welcomed a baby girl into their lives:
“This is the best experience of my life! Myself and Benjamin are so honored and happy to welcome this beautiful girl into the world.”
Naughton first confirmed the news of her pregnancy earlier this year, but keeps most details of her private life strictly that — and understandably so.
It’s certainly easy to be happy for Naturi, and we wish her and Ben all of the happiness in the world — hopefully, they’ve got a whole lot more in the way of peace in their lives right now than what Tasha does on Power season 4. If you recall, her character is in all sorts of tough times right now — Ghost is still behind bars, and he recently decided to not take a plea deal that could have changed the game for him. To make matters worse, he made this decision effectively without even consulting Tasha about it in advance, which would’ve been nice given that it also impacts her and their children greatly. (Speaking of her children, there’s also plenty of trouble going on there at the moment given that Tariq is running around with Kanan, hardly the best influence in the world for any kid his age.)
By the end of the season, we imagine that everything is going to come to a head with Tasha, Ghost, and their son given that the writers have been slow-playing this story with Kanan for a rather long stretch of time. Sooner or later, we do imagine that this is something that’s going to explode outwards.
Naughton should have a little bit of time to spend getting used to being a mom, given that Power season 5 won’t start production until a little bit later this year. For those wondering, the show was renewed all the way back in 2016 for two additional seasons, so you’ve got the freedom to be able to watch and relax the remainder of this season (at least however much you can relax while watching a show like Power) knowing that there is going to be more coming down the road. We’re excited to see if her being a mother in real-life here will further inform her story in some way, since she’ll have some additional relatability there on an emotional level.
Power season 4 is in the process of airing new episodes, and it will continue to do so Sunday nights on Starz. We’re going to have more news regarding the show as it becomes available, so be sure to keep coming back for all sorts of scoop on that over here.
