Ratings notes: Shadowhunters, Nashville season 5, Queen of the South
Shadowhunters – The Freeform drama did come dangerously close to setting some new series lows for this past episode. In terms of the 18-49 demographic, it tied its previous low with a 0.2 rating. Meanwhile, in total viewers it posted around 548,000, which is just a thousand or so off from its previous low number. It has been renewed already for a third season, but we want to see things going the other way! The 23% drop from last week to this week is the biggest drop since after the premiere in January.
Nashville – The country drama has been pretty adept at holding to that 0.2 rating for most of its fifth season on the air; it’s also stayed fairly steady following the departure of Connie Britton. It actually improved to around 750,000 viewers this week; its total viewers have declined a little bit this summer, but like with Shadowhunters, it’s renewed already. Nothing to worry about.
Queen of the South – Finally, we turn to the USA drama. Last week, we wrote a little bit about how remarkably steady this show is, and that’s a tradition that is continuing moving into this episode, as well. It held firm in the demo with a 0.4, and rose in total viewers to 1.27 million. So far, the series is averaging better numbers in both key measures than it did in season 1, and that’s the only one of these three shows that can say anything close to that.
Interestingly, Queen of the South is the only one of these three shows listed here not renewed, but we do still feel very much confident about its own future.
All three of these shows are all fairly new into their run on the air, and with that in mind, there will be plenty more stories to come about how all of them are faring. Be sure to stay tuned for some further news on that.
