Nashville season 5 spoilers: Could there be a new Deacon romance?
Is he a character worthy of love? Absolutely, but whether or not this is something that is in the cards for him remains to be seen when you consider many of the variables. He’s got so many other priorities for one, including the relationships that he has with his family and also a busy work schedule. However, there may still be someone interested in him in Kaitlin Doubleday’s new character Jessica. She’s coming back into the music scene after a destructive relationship, and the former Empire star tells Us Weekly that both characters may be in further need of some emotional nourishing:
“I think that it that could blossom … I was even thinking about this, like, if they even do end up together somehow, how sad is it for Jessie that she’s going to fall in love with a guy who’s literally been obsessed with the same woman — who just tragically died — for 35 years. Like, that would be so depressing!”
Just because it would be depressing, however, does not mean that it is a lock to be avoided. Jessie is a character likely dealing with depression already, and finding solace in another broken person may provide some personal satisfaction. The problem there is that she may not be able to think with her best interests long-term at heart.
Doubleday is one of two new performers coming onto Nashville in the coming days. In addition to meeting her, you are also going to have a chance to be introduced to another new character on Rachel Bilson’s Alyssa. She is someone who will help to turn things around for the record label in terms of her data. She’s incredibly smart, but isn’t going to have that same level of caring about the individual artists or the music that other people do. In some ways, this could be either a blessing or a curse.
