CMT Music Awards 2017: Where to live stream red-carpet pre-show
If you head over to the network’s official Facebook Page, there is going to be a stream for the red carpet starting at around 4:00 p.m. Eastern time. Cody Alan and Katie Cook are going to be present to interview some of country’s biggest stars, and you can begin whatever sort of commentary you’d like on what some of the celebrities in attendance are wearing.
As for the performers, it’s a list that includes the likes of Thomas Rhett, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Brett Eldredge, and a whole lot of other familiar faces. It is once again another good lineup of artists who are familiar to viewers right now, as well as those who have quite a bit reputation within the country community as a whole.
The show itself is being hosted by none other than Charles Esten, who is best known for his work on CMT’s Nashville. Consider this the network’s way of throwing a little bit of synergy out there and promoting one of their shows on a big stage. (To us, Esten is always going to be Chip Esten, former comedy performer on Whose Line Is It Anyway? back when that was airing on CMT.)
These red carpet pre-shows are often fun, but could you say that they need some sort of a change in format? Certainly, given that one of the issues is that the interviews are almost so short that they blow by in a second and cover almost nothing of substance. Instead, what should be considered instead is getting three or four stars together for a ten-minute segment that feels more like a fun conversation, where they can talk about everything from fashion to the state of their craft. Bring in someone funny to host it, and try to create some great viral moments from a comedy perspective. Do things a little bit differently than in the present, where the only viral moments that comes out of these are when the hosts ask something ridiculous or slightly out of line with what should be asked.
