Doctor Who season 10 episode 6 spoilers: More on Missy’s return
As a viewer, this is certainly thrilling. For Peter Capaldi’s character, it’s probably more traumatic given that Missy has a tendency to bring chaos almost anywhere she goes. It’s hard to imagine anything different happening when she turns up on this coming episode or any other down the road.
Speaking to E! News, Gomez had the following to say when suggesting that Missy may have a slightly different story this time around that she’s had in the past:
“Missy will bring her usual nonsense and bravado, but this time ’round, there’s something actually quite massive that will really impact on her and the Who world … You’ll absolutely see another side of Missy that was a huge acting challenge for me actually, so that’s sort of about to come.”
Gomez did also make it clear over the course of this piece that even though the plan is to leave alongside Capaldi and showrunner Steven Moffat at the end of the season, she is taking a “never say never” approach to the future. Who knows? If Peter opts to reprise the role down the line, there is a certain degree of sense that could come with her coming back and adding to the fun.
This weekend’s episode is going to feature The Doctor clashing with The Vatican in some new and interesting ways. It’s probably not going to be overtly religious, but given this show there are likely going to be some religious interpretations that will come up just because this is the sort of thing that often does tend to happen with the show. It introduces such imagination, and then allows that imagination to spread to the viewers after the fact.
