Survivor: Game Changers episode 6 promo: The returning player mystery
To date, what the promo below for Wednesday’s installment reveals is that someone is coming out via a boat to meet one or many players this season … but in what capacity? We thought within this article, it’d be useful to detail some possible theories.
1. A reward – Maybe this is a case where a former player like a Boston Rob or a Parvati Shallow shows up to offer a strategy session to a winning tribe. Then again, would Sandra really need help from a Parvati or a Rob? They’re all great, but she’s won twice.
2. An Exile Island buddy – Maybe whoever is sent out to Exile this week will get this person as someone to help them survive out there, or serve as a buffer. This is similar to the reward just mentioned, but being away from a tribe for days on end is hardly a reward.
3. Someone returning who was previously voted out this season – Could the show pull something like an Outcast twist to get Tony or Malcolm out there? It’s Game Changers, so why not? The one objection we have is that Jeff Probst previously said that what he disliked about the Outcast twist during Pearl Islands in retrospect is that the players didn’t know about it in advance.
4. Someone totally new – Bringing in a new player after five episodes would be unprecedented. It’d also be completely unfair. Yet, this is a season where we’ve already seen some twists that are questionable when it comes to fairness. Why not throw another one out there? (Dear CBS: We don’t mean that as a challenge.) We wills say that the wording in the promo suggests that whoever is turning up was not previously on the season.
5. A guest co-host – We’re not sure why Jeff needs it, but whatever. Maybe he wanted to sleep in one morning.
Ultimately, it’s possible that this promo is being hyped up as something far more significant than it is to the game, but CBS had to know when they made this that the returning-player twist that people would be speaking about it obsessively. We’re one of them.
