Top Chef season 15 filming in Colorado; Top Chef: Colorado anyone?
For the first time, the Bravo franchise is focusing in on the Rocky Mountains for a new season. We should note that Top Chef: Colorado isn’t the official title at the moment, but that’s what we are calling it for the time being. Entertainment Weekly was the first to report that this would be the setting, and they also shared a statement from Bravo’s executive vice president for current production Media Shari Levine:
“We are always on the hunt for the next great culinary destination and Colorado is fast becoming a hot spot for young chefs and foodies, making it an ideal backdrop for our upcoming season … Our new cheftestants will have an abundance of inspiration to pull from as they cook amid the awe-inspiring scenery and explore the burgeoning culinary scenes from cities to mountain resorts.”
Hopefully, “new cheftestants” is a sign that we’re going with an all-newbie format this time around. As much as we love people like Shirley Chung and Brooke Williamson, the entire format of last season was egregiously slanted towards some of the newbies. This time around, it’d be nice to get back to basics a little bit.
In offering up some more of our take on the location, Colorado is fantastic. It has a very different aesthetic than almost anywhere else the show has been, Denver has a lot of unique eateries, and with places like Aspen and other resort towns, you do have some of that high-end dining experience that the show often likes to present onscreen. There’s also an additional challenge that comes here courtesy of cooking in high-altitude places. That’s something that you have to be prepared for when you are a part of the competition, especially if you’re doing any baking.
We imagine that Top Chef 15 / Top Chef: Colorado will premiere later this year, but there is nothing official on that just yet. We’ll let you know once we have confirmation, so be sure to check back with us.
