TV Madness 2017: Call the Midwife and The Blacklist face off in Round Two
Below, we will size up Call the Midwife and The Blacklist, two contenders that are bringing a good bit to the table even if the shows themselves are completely different. Voting is going to be open in this showdown from now until March 24, so be prepared to vote however often you want!
Call the Midwife (#8 seed) – One of the funnier things about the tournament this year is that two out of the #1 seeds are no longer in the tournament … and somehow, this isn’t a surprise. The reality is that when you look like shows like Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead, these are the shows that have effectively won the game of life. They’ve got huge ratings and all of the publicity in the world. A show like Call the Midwife is a little more under-the-radar, especially here in America, and there’s still that thirst to support it and its brilliant characters / its message. There are few other shows that are as poignant or as touching as this one.
The Blacklist (#4 seed) – After an intense battle with Grey’s Anatomy in the first round, the NBC series has managed to push forward into the second round! It’s a perennial favorite both in this tournament and other fan polls at the site, and the reasons for that mostly start with the brilliance of James Spader. You surround him with some other fantastic co-stars and a story that features an almost comic-book-like ability to craft heroes and villains, and you’ve got a show that is often brilliant and fantastic to watch.
Now, we turn things over to you in the poll! As noted, be sure to vote however often you’d like, and we’ll be back tomorrow with another showdown in our TV Madness series — specifically, we’ll reveal the winner of the Longmire / Chicago Med showdown, one of the more exciting ones of the first round.
