The Flash – Abra Kadabra casting: Gotham, MacGyver standout set for season 3 role
For everyone looking for some Abra Kadabra casting news when it comes to The Flash, The CW happily delivered some news today! Let’s just say that it’s pretty glorious and then some this time around around.
Today, DC Comics themselves first revealed that David Dastmalchian, who recently played Dwight on Gotham and is currently recurring as Murdoc on MacGyver (the guy knows his way around villains!) is going to be appearing in at least one season 3 casting as the villain. The site describes him as “a criminal from a distant future whose advanced technological powers seem like magic, the time-traveling Abra Kadabra holds a secret the Flash will stop at nothing to uncover.”
The part is intriguing, just because there aren’t too many time-travelers that we’ve seen beyond Vandal Savage and Reverse-Flash on the show. It’s also notable, as the site mentions, that this is some who feigns magic powers as opposed to someone like Zatanna who possesses the innate ability to utilize mysticism to her advantage.
Our hope for the Abra Kadabra casting
The big bad for the season is Savitar, a God of Speed who is almost unbeatable when it comes to what he is capable of doing. So far, the only real way in which Barry Allen has been able to defeat him is by trapping him in the Speed Force. Maybe this character is someone who actually has the knowledge to change the game? It could give Barry a significant leg up, and prepare him better for whatever showdown is coming. It’s just hard to believe that we would get a new story-of-the-week villain at this point in the run that wasn’t connected to Savitar in some shape or form. It’s very well possible that Savitar also hails from the future, and somehow through his efforts to stop other speedsters found himself trapped within the Philosopher’s Stone. Given that the show has yet to say much of anything at all when it comes to who this character is or where he comes from, the possibilities are endless … and that is really true when it comes to Abra Kadabra given that we haven’t even met the guy just yet.
