The Flash season 3, episode 14 preview: Grodd’s army arrives in Central City

Grodd -

Tuesday night’s new episode of The Flash entitled “Attack on Central City” is right about here, and judging from what we’ve seen of Grodd’s army, this one will be epic.

Let’s set the stage with the help of the video below. At the end of this past episode, Grodd revealed his backup plan as extra insurance in the event that using Barry and Cisco did not work out as planned: Having Gypsy open a portal to Earth-1 so that he could come back home and claim what’s his. While a cool surprise ending, it did raise a very obvious question: If Grodd had access to Gypsy the whole time, why not just use her and spare yourself all of the trouble bringing Barry over? Maybe he thought it’d be easier to defeat Barry on his home turf with an elaborate trick than trying to take him on in his element.

Nonetheless, Grodd’s going to have to do just that, and this is not going to be easy for him. This video shows him vastly outnumbered, and he’ll have to figure out how to defeat all of the apes who are coming over under their leader’s control … at least metaphorically, at least. It’s more opponents than Barry’s taken on since maybe that meta-human who kept cloning himself at the start of the series. The difference here is that these aren’t mere humans. They’re strong, have great stamina, and won’t be taken down easily.

Luckily, he also has help: Three speedsters! This is the first time that The Flash, Kid Flash, and Jesse Quick will all be working together for a singular purpose, which means that this episode could quite literally be a blur! That is part of the fun with the story, but it also could be rather complicated when you think about how much effort and teamwork is going to have to go into taking these gorilla out. Fingers crossed that Gypsy comes to her senses and can be used as an ally, as well.
