‘The Flash’ season 3, episode 10 video: ‘Back to the Future’ references galore

Flash -

The Flash” is returning to The CW with new episodes on January 24, and judging from the new sneak peek below, the future is going to be more important than ever before.

Remember what happened in the winter finale? Well, odds are you do in the event that you are reading this episode. Barry Allen learned that in the future, Savitar is going to kill Iris West, and he has to figure out a way to stop it. This is why his plan now seems to involve Wally West, Vibe, and a whole lot of teamwork to try to figure out precisely how to make sure that this doesn’t happen to her.

We know that there are many people out there complaining that this is Barry messing with the timeline again, and we know that this didn’t work all that well for him the first time around. So why do it again here? Well, the difference is that nobody knows precisely what they are missing, so if the future changes, it doesn’t have presumably nearly as much impact on the present … or so we think.

To go along with all of this, we also are going to be seeing in this episode Barry revealing to Iris precisely what the vision of the future was as presented by our Big Bad. Obviously, we hate this for Iris since it represents something that is terrifying and then some. However, at the same time we give the show credit for having him be honest with her right away about this. Do you know how many other shows out there would probably try to sweet this under the rug and lie for an extended period of time?

Unfortunately for Barry, we don’t think changing Iris’ fate is going to be anywhere near this easy — and while we want her to survive, we don’t want it to be. If it was, the show wouldn’t have that same tension or feeling of adventure behind it.

How long do you think it will take Barry to save Iris? Share some of your thoughts and theories below, and head over here now if you’re interested in some other news regarding “The Flash” prior to its return. (Photo: The CW.)
