‘The Bachelor’ spoilers: Is an Amanda Stanton / Josh Murray update coming in ‘Countdown to Nick’ show?

Tonight, “The Bachelor” is doing something that we’ve seen them do here and there in give you a sort of pre-show to the start of the actual season. We’re getting that today at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time with their “Countdown to Nick” special, which offers up some backstory on the four-time contestant, including his past relationships with Andi Dorfman, Kaitlyn Bristowe, and Jen Saviano.

On some level, what could make this special a little bit interesting is that during Andi and Kaitlyn’s seasons, Nick wasn’t edited as a saint. As a matter of fact, he was considered by many to be a villain and involved in two very controversial moments — both involving sex. Personally, to us we prefer someone being a little more real with what’s going on behind closed doors, but to each their own.

What’s also interesting is that tonight is going to give you updates on some “Bachelor” couples, and we imagine that Josh Murray and Amanda Stanton, who have not publicly addressed the recent split rumors, will offer up some clarity. According to Us Weekly, the two recently did reunite, with the idea being that they were filming footage for the event. We imagine that we’ll also get some updates on some other prominent pairings, including Kaitlyn and Shawn Booth, Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell, Evan Bass and Carly Waddell, and of course Sean and Catherine Lowe. Maybe we’ll also see JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers in there, but we haven’t heard anything about that at the moment.

Ultimately, these specials are important for two different reasons: Ratings for ABC, and reminders that sometimes, doing this show can lead to a long and happy life. That doesn’t mean that it happens for everyone, though, but oddly “Bachelor in Paradise” couples seem to have a decent success rate. After all, Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert got married, and at least Evan and Carly are still together. We’ll see what’s going on with Josh and Amanda.

Update: Oddly, there was no update. Apologies for any false pretense, but we do believe that they are going to make some sort of announcement soon. Why would there be so many reports out there otherwise? They certainly could’ve fit something into this bloated special tonight…
